This Recipe Is For . . . .

Today's project is really simple and anyone can do it, I promise!

When Jen Deal suggested recipe cards for me of course I started to make this into a very complicated project like I usually do. But then I got to thinking, keep it simple for a change Sherrie! So I got to thinking, my husband was given a homemade recipe book by his mom when he moved out after graduating high school. To this day we still have that homemade recipe book filled with Brian's favorite recipe's from growing up and we still use it from time to time. Our daughter is 21 and a junior in college, which means pretty soon that is going to be done and she will be moving out and on her own. Brian and I have talked about starting a recipe book for her of her favorites for her to take when she moves out. So this was my inspiration. But like I said, this time I was going to keep it simple. While going through my stash of cookbooks and recipes I found this pack of recipe cards.

So I'm looking at these recipe cards and it hits me, why not just alter these by coloring the flowers and butterfly? That would be so simple but add such a colorful and home made feel to them. Hopefully it would make the person that receives them feel special!

Of course the color patterns and combinations would be endless for coloring the flowers. For the first card I chose to use all six (6) colors from the Suzy West Candy Counter Collection. I think it made for a really fun and bright recipe card!
To emboss the flowers I used a WOW! Clear Embossing Pen and inked the petals of the flowers. Now I only did one color at a time. By this I mean I inked the petals of four or five flowers, covered them with powder, removed the extra powder, and then heated that color. I then repeated the process for the next color of flowers. And so on until I used all six colors. This way I made sure my colors didn't get mixed.

The second card I colored them all with Suzy West Candy Counter Berrylicious.

Here is a close up of the flowers. I finished off each flower by adding a round clear bling to all the centers to make them sparkle.

Aren't those just the cutest recipe cards? And wasn't that soooooo simple? I also embossed the butterfly in the upper right hand corner.

So which way do you like the recipe cards better, multi-color or all the same?

Well, thanks for stopping by today and be sure to come back tomorrow to see what Irit has made for you this month!

Warmly,
Sherrie
